ABOUT

Ashley Evans is a Registered Psychologist who brings over 14 years of experience in education into her psychology practice. Since 2023, she has worked in psychology roles supporting children, adolescents, and families across Ballina, Forster, and the Taree region.

Ashley’s work is grounded in a strong understanding of child development, learning, and family systems. She focuses on understanding each child within their developmental, learning, and family context, and works collaboratively with children, young people, and caregivers to build on existing strengths, resilience, and capacity for change. Her experience includes facilitating evidence-based peer programs to support social skills, emotional regulation, and positive peer relationships.

Ashley offers online telehealth sessions for children and adolescents where this is clinically appropriate, and where the young person is supported to engage meaningfully in the therapeutic process. Her approach is warm, thoughtful, and evidence-based, with a strong emphasis on helping children and families feel heard, understood, and supported as they navigate challenges and move forward with confidence.

EDUCATION

Ashley holds an undergraduate degree in Education and Business, providing a strong foundation in learning, development, and educational systems. She completed her postgraduate training in Psychology at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), followed by a Master of Professional Psychology at Charles Sturt University (CSU).

Ashley is a Registered Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and is a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS). She is committed to ongoing professional development and evidence-based practice in her work with children, adolescents, and families.

EXPERIENCE

Ashley has worked across a range of educational and psychological settings, supporting children, adolescents, families, and school staff teams. Her experience has equipped her to work with young people presenting with a variety of emotional, behavioural, social, and developmental concerns within school and community contexts.

Ashley has extensive experience working in school settings, providing psychological support to children and adolescents with diverse presentations, and collaborating closely with parents and caregivers to strengthen understanding and support around their young person’s needs. Her work includes facilitating evidence-based social skills interventions, including the PEERS® program delivered in an online format, to support social communication, peer relationships, and confidence.

Ashley values collaborative practice and works alongside children, families, schools, and other supports to develop practical strategies that are tailored to each young person and their wider environment. Her approach emphasises co-creating interventions that are developmentally informed, strengths-based, and responsive to the systems surrounding the child or adolescent.

SERVICES

Ashley provides online (telehealth) psychology services for children, adolescents, and families, where this mode of delivery is clinically appropriate. Sessions are developmentally informed and tailored to the needs of the young person and their family, with collaboration with schools and other supports where helpful and consented to.

Services include:

  • Individual therapy for children and adolescents

  • Family-based sessions to support communication, understanding, and relationships

  • Support and guidance for parents and caregivers

  • Individual therapy for adults, where clinically appropriate and within scope

  • Small group social skills programs for teens (6 participants)

  • Telehealth sessions are offered where they are clinically appropriate and where the child or adolescent is able to engage meaningfully in an online format. This may include young people who are motivated to participate, benefit from a familiar home environment, or face barriers to attending in-person sessions.

  • Ashley works collaboratively with parents and caregivers to assess suitability for telehealth and to ensure appropriate support is in place. Where telehealth is not suitable, alternative options and referrals can be discussed.
